A common problem to solve among -usually shocked when they first find out- couples expecting twins, is the twin stroller. If buying a stroller for a single kid requires some observation, talking with experience parents, checking out a few shops and a little thinking about your needs (ok, I’m exaggerating, most of us won’t do all that stuff), buying one for twins entails no difference. And putting initial effort will pay off in the mid term (and will save you some bucks for sure). In the video you can find under this post (click here if you can’t see it), you’ll see what criteria we used to make the selection and what was the model we finally choose. Basically we wanted a twin stroller that was:
- Light weight but well build to be able to take the abuses of a family with kids (and parents that need to hang the shopping bags on it).
- Easy to fold (as small as possible) and unfold. It should fit with easy in our car’s trunk and still leave space for the bags and the stuff needed for a family of 5 going out for a weekend at the beach.
- The most import: to fit through our elevator’s door with the kids on (our elevator’s door is tiny -68cm wide-).
- It should be designed to be used from their birth until 3 or 4 years of age.
- It should also have a nice design. Even thought this was not that important, we had this criteria in mind to remind us we could not accept a fluorecent pink even if it meet all the other criteria.
With the criteria in mind we started interactions at shops, the net, friends and unknown people we saw with twin stroller on the street, and we found out that:
- ‘Side by side’ strollers are better than ‘front and back’ ones (easier to manouver, park and fold, and with a better view for both for both twins)
- There are no ’side by side’ twin stroller with less than 73 cm wide, so we needed one that could be ‘shrinked’ a little while having the twins on (sounds like a weird requirement?), so we could fit it on the elevator and the 70cm doors most Spanish houses have.
- Surprisingly we found two models that would meet our needs: the Cosatto You2 and the Maclaren Twin Triumph (former Twin Techno). So we went to a shop to check them out, then searched for the best price on the net and ordered it (we selected the Cosatto You 2)
